The Center for Syndesmosis Bunion Surgery in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, is globally recognized for pioneering a non-invasive alternative to traditional bunion surgery. Dr. Wu adapted a long-neglected soft-tissue technique called Osteodesis—originally demonstrated by Italian professor Michael Harrison—and refined it into the Syndesmosis Procedure in 2004, treating bunions by restoring the intermetatarsal ligaments rather than breaking bone. We were tasked to build a full digital presence that would help scale this procedure and make it mainstream for potential patients.
For patients suffering from bunions, the default assumption is invasive bone-breaking surgery with long recovery times. The Syndesmosis Procedure offered a radically different approach, but public awareness was low and trust had to be earned through education. The clinic needed more than a company website — it needed an information portal that could help tens of thousands of potential patients in Hong Kong understand, evaluate, and consider this alternative.
We strategized and designed the website from the ground up on Laravel and OctoberCMS. The platform functions as both a company portal and a patient-education hub, breaking down the science behind the Syndesmosis Procedure into clear, accessible content that guides visitors from curiosity to consultation.
The website launched in 2019 and became the clinic's primary digital front door. Within a year, daily visits increased by 600%, showing strong patient demand for clear, trustworthy information about non-invasive bunion treatment.
